SCH 8 Monthly Message -- July scores
The SCH 8 July scores are in.

We made astonishing progress on our “HCAHPS overall hospital rating 9-10” measure this month — an increase from 82.8 percent of our goal to 124.2% — and I would like to first and foremost thank and congratulate you all for this.

In each of my monthly messages this year, I have written about the importance of providing an excellent experience for our patients and have highlighted the many efforts we’ve put in place to improve our HCAHPS patient satisfaction scores. These positive results are proof that our hard work is making a difference.

All of our HCAHPS measures — not just the ones shown on our SCH 8 chart — were very positive this quarter. At the end of the HCAHPS surveys, patients have an opportunity to include comments about their stay at the hospital. I would like to share with you some of the comments we’ve recently received:

• “Exceptional care provided from the admitting process all the way to discharge. We couldn't be happier with our stay Great job!!!”

• “I was impressed by the respect and camaraderie openly displayed among all hospital staff and personnel which helped make my stay very pleasant”

• “I feel the peace of God in this hospital and love for the patients and care for others. I thank you for the care you have given me and my family”

• “I was very pleased with the staff during this hospital stay. Every staff member was courteous and knowledgeable I felt like their attention was focused completely on me and my newborn”

I am proud to work with people that offer such a great experience for our patients. Please celebrate our HCAHPS improvements and use this as motivation to continue our efforts. We need to remain focused on all the HCAHPS questions, especially those regarding pain management and quietness. Every survey makes a difference, and every patient encounter is important.

The other measures on the SCH 8 chart have remained relatively steady, and we saw an increase in operating cash. It’s very important that we find ways to be more cost efficient and increase volume. Please continue to spread the word about our great services and caregivers.
