SCH 8 Monthly Message -- August scores
The SCH 8 August scores are in.

As we enter the final stretch of our 2011 fiscal year, I’m pleased to see that the majority of our SCH 8 measures are improving or remaining steady. I am especially thrilled at the progress we’ve made on our HCAHPS patient satisfaction measures throughout the year.

It’s hard to believe that nearly a year ago, I sent my first message highlighting the importance of improving the HCAHPS patient satisfaction scores, as new government regulations were being put in place for financially incentivizing and penalizing hospitals based on these outcomes. At the time, we were below the benchmark in seven of the eight categories. Now, according to our most recent scores, we exceed the benchmark in all eight categories.

This transformation is truly tremendous, and I commend and thank you all for your diligent efforts. It goes to show that when we remain focused on a goal and work together to reach it, we see positive results.

This really is just the beginning, however. Our HCAHPS scores will continue to be monitored and will continue to affect our bottom line. Please continue to implement what you’ve learned in training in your daily interactions with patients and other staff members; it’s extremely important that we keep these scores up.

Providing excellent patient care has always been our core mission, and our efforts to improve HCAHPS patient satisfaction scores have only helped us further bring that mission to life. You have all done a superb job thus far, and I’m grateful to be associated with such a committed team of employees.
