Beaker remains filled past $3 million goal.

The beaker chart reflecting our progress toward the $3 million goal is updated monthly with dollar amounts reflecting the prior month (this is due to the time needed to "close the books" and determine the final amount).

We saw a consolidating operating profit increase of $281,000 in October, bringing our total to $3,475,000. It is great to see that we continue to grow and that all of you remain focused on being at or above $3 million four months from now when our campaign ends.

Our success in October was mainly due to higher volumes and good expense control. This is in line with the trend we have seen throughout the year: Increasing volumes and controlling expenses have proven to help increase our profits. These are critical areas for us to continue focusing on, and we can all contribute to their improvement by referring friends and family, using supplies more efficiently and considering efficiencies in all our processes.

Another key factor in improving our bottom line is decreasing length of stay. This is an area that wasn’t quite as successful in October; had our length of stay been lower, our profit increase would have been even higher. We are working with physicians on strategies for improving this.

Thanks again for your commitment to this campaign and to our hospital. I hope you all enjoyed your holiday weekend.
